Its low price recommends it as a good source to begin with, although we found out the hard way that there's a section in the smokebox plans that's a bit confusing (When you put the front frame on the box, be sure to put the 2x3's on flat, attaching them through the 2" side). We also felt the structure is improved with the use of screws instead of nails, and by reinforcing the front frame with angle brackets.Putting that aside (cut more wood), this succinct book gives the basics for putting together several forms of smokers of various sizes, and some beginning fundamentals of smoking meats. It gives a brief overview of what smoking is, how a smokehouse works, and exacting plans for building a hot smoke pit,a barrel smoker, a box smoker, and a full sized smokehouse with concerte floor.
